Golden era of Hindi Cinema

Indian cinema is the world's largest film industry in film production. Bollywood is its largest film producer.

1950s was the decade which is known as the Golden era of Hindi Cinema. It was the time when some of the best film makers , writers and actors came together to create great l films that are considered classics even half a century later. The era gave the industry some legendary actors like Raj Kapoor, Dev Anand, Guru Dutt, Dilip Kumar, Madhubala, Nargis, Meena Kumari and Waheeda Rehman.

 

Many films from Bollywood's Golden Era are considered to be among the greatest ever made even today. Among these are evergreen classics such as Guru Dutt's Pyaasa (1957) and Kagaz Ke Phool (1959), Raj Kapoor's Awara (1951), and Shree 420 (1955), Mehboob Khan's Mother India (1957), and K Asif's Mughal-E-Azam (1960).
