New Delhi June 05 (VNI ) Kangana Ranaut, Actor-turned-politician elected Lok Sabha MP from Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, has been slapped by a CISF personnel at the Chandigarh Airport on Thursday.
Kangana Ranaut was traveling to Delhi and did not speak to the press upon her arrival. Later, a video was posted by her expressing concerns about terrorism rising in Punjab. The incident involved Kulwinder Kaur, a CISF officer, who slapped Ranaut.
It was claimed by Kulwinder Kaur at the Chandigarh airport that she was provoked by Kangana’s previous comments about the farmers' protest. It was mentioned by Kaur that Kangana had remarked that farmers were protesting for ₹100 and questioned if she would sit there for that amount. It was further explained by Kaur that her mother was among those protesting when this statement was made.
Kaur, who comes from a farming family, has been suspended and faces a police case. A reaction to what was perceived as Kangana's disrespect towards farmers was given.
Upon reaching Delhi, concerns were voiced by Ranaut about terrorism rising in Punjab.
It was stated by her that the incident occurred during the security check. The female guard waited until she passed, then struck her and used foul language. When asked why, it was replied by the guard that she supported farmers. Safety was assured by Ranaut, but concerns about the rise of terrorism in Punjab were expressed. A query was raised on how to address this issue.
Mobile footage that quickly went viral showed Ranaut being escorted to a check-in counter, where a verbal confrontation occurred. However, the video did not show the moment when Ranaut was allegedly slapped.
An investigation was confirmed to be in progress by Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini. It was stated that action would be taken against the accused. Regret was expressed that a security personnel was involved in this incident and the incident was deemed wrong.
A reference was made by Kaur, a CISF Constable, to a derogatory comment by Kangana on X (formerly Twitter) in 2020 during nationwide farmer protests against three controversial farm laws.
Kangana had tweeted about the women at the protests, suggesting ther were available for ₹100. The tweet was deleted following public outrage.
Renewed attention was brought to Kangana's controversial 2020 comment by this incident
The farmers' protest, which began in 2020/21, has had significant political implications and continues to be a major topic both in India and globally.
Multiple confrontations with protesting farmers have occurred involving Kangana. In addition to her controversial tweets in 2020 and 2021, her convoy was blocked by protestors while she was campaigning in Chandigarh.
