Vasanth Kumar Shivashankar Padukone, better known as Guru Dutt, was an Indian film director, producer, actor, choreographer, and writer. He was included among CNN's "Top 25 Asian Actors" in 2012. Dutt was lauded for his artistry, notably his usage of close-up shots, lighting, and depictions of melancholia.
