New Delhi 13 Nov.(VNI) Ranjit Singh holds a high status in Indian history as a great warrior and founder of the Sikh Empire. Ranjit Singh was born on 13 November 1780 in Gujranwala (now part of Pakistan).

As a child, he contracted smallpox, which blinded him in his left eye. While the disease weakened his body, it did not diminish his inner strength. At the age of 10, he demonstrated his courage and bravery by participating in his first battle with his father. This early act of bravery marks his journey as a strong soldier and a capable leader. The army strengthened the foundation of the Sikh Empire. It focused on religious belief, promoting unity between the Hindu, Muslim and Sikh communities. Its policy was to provide a safe and peaceful environment where people of all faiths and interests had equal opportunities. , died at the age of 58.
