New Delhi 15 June (VNI)As Cyclone Biparjoy approaches the Gujarat coast, authorities are actively implementing measures to maintain communication channels. To minimize potential disruptions caused by the intense cyclone, the Gujarat State Disaster Management Authority (GSDMA) has dispatched six HAM radio teams, with two teams stationed in Kutch, along with mobile units. These proactive steps are being taken to ensure smooth information flow in the aftermath of the cyclone's landfall near Jakhau port.
It is significant to know that during emergency situations when conventional communication methods such as wireless and mobile phones become unreliable, HAM radio serves as a dependable means of messaging. It is an amateur radio system that utilises radio frequency spectrum for non-commercial communication purposes. This alternative communication method proves valuable when other terrestrial communication channels fail.
