Canadian Triumph : Lakshya Sen Powers into Final, PV Sindhu's Semifinal Heartbreak

NEW Delhi, 09 july, (VNI) : Lakshya Sen advances to the final while PV Sindhu is eliminated in the semifinals. Lakshya Sen achieved a resounding victory against Kenta Nishimoto from Japan with a score of 21-17, 21-14  in Canada Open Championship on saturday. The Commonwealth Games gold medalist displayed exceptional performance throughout the match, overpowering his opponent who is ranked 11th in the world. The first set was fiercely contested, with Lakshya holding a narrow lead of 10-9 at the halfway point. He maintained his momentum and secured the victory in 44 minutes by winning the second set convincingly.
This marks Lakshya Sen's second appearance in the championship match of the Badminton World Federation (BWF) World Tour Super 500 event. On Sunday, he will face Li Shi Feng, the reigning All England champion from China.
In the women's singles semifinal, PV Sindhu faced a defeat against Akane Yamaguchi of Japan with a score of 21-14, 21-15. Despite Sindhu's valiant efforts, the world number 1 shuttler emerged victorious, although the match was closely contested.
