New delhi, 02 april, (Sunil Kumar/VNI) The ICC Cricket World Cup is the international championship of One Day International cricket. The event is organised by the sport's governing body, the International Cricket Council, every four years, with first qualification rounds leading up to a semifinals and then finals tournament. The first ever one day international was played between Australia and England at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on January 5, 1971. It took around three and a half years for India to join the bandwagon as they played their maiden ODI against England in July 1974.
