New Delhi 13 April (VNI)Waterfalls are a popular destination on the Indian tourist map, offering stunning vistas and a perfect picnic spot during summers and monsoons. Vazhvanthol Waterfalls, located around 50 km from Trivandrum railway station, is a hidden gem that should be on every traveler's list. The initial trek through the eucalyptus plantations is easy, but soon there come huge rocks to climb. Trekking through the forest area for about two km will take you to a safe place to rest and enjoy the serene beauty of the waterfalls. We should be careful of slippery rocks while trekking and be mindful of leeches and snakes along the way.
The waterfalls are accessible during the summer but may be dangerous during monsoons due to the slippery rocks. No permission will be allowed after 1 PM, as it is the time when animals come out of the dense forest to drink water from the river. The best time to visit is between monsoons. Visitors must pay an entrance fee of INR 1500 for ten people, and guides are available. Visitors should carry enough refreshments and bottled water, as there are no restaurants nearby, and to have food, one would have to travel back to Vithura.
