Lucknow 15 November (VNI) On the fifth day of continued protests, UPPSC aspirants have made headway in their demands. The Uttar Pradesh government has announced that the PCS Preliminary Examination will now be conducted in a single shift. The decision follows four days of protests and talks between the UPPSC and aspirant representatives, culminating in an agreement to conduct the PCS exam under a "one day-one shift" schedule.
However, the situation remains unresolved for the Review Officer (RO) and Assistant Review Officer (ARO) exams. The aspirants have voiced a similar demand to hold these exams in a single shift. In response, the UPPSC has decided to form a dedicated committee to address the RO/ARO examination concerns. This committee will evaluate the feasibility of conducting these exams on a single day and is expected to submit a report soon.
The decision to schedule the PCS exam in one shift marks a significant concession from UPPSC officials, acknowledging the aspirants' grievances. Acocording to media reports UPPSC Secretary Ashok Kumar engaged directly with the protesting students, and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, recognizing the students' concerns, directed the Commission to make student-friendly adjustments.
The Provincial Civil Service Preliminary Examination is now slated for December 7. Meanwhile, the RO and ARO preliminary exams initially set for December 22 and 23, are postponed until the committee reaches a final decision.
