New delhi, 29 june,(sunil kumar/VNI) Gauhar Kanpuri was one of the popular Hindi film lyricists of 70s and 80s.
Team of Bappi Lahiri and Gauhar kanpuri produced many good songs . . Kanpuri’s lines have also been brought to life by the compositions of Ram-Laxman, Jaidev, Usha Khanna, Nadeem-Shravan and Rajkamal. Singers like Mohammed Rafi, Kishore Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhosle, Suman Kalyanpur, Jaspal Singh, Yesudas, Usha Uthup, Kumar Sanu, Sulakshana Pandit and Chandrani Mukherjee have lent their voices to Kanpuri songs making them eternal.
“Abhi Abhi Thi Dushmani”, “Jalta Hai Jiya Mera” (“Zakhmee”, 1975), “Jhoomta Sawan Dekho Aaya” (“Do Khiladi”, 1976) “Allah Karam Karna” (“Dada”, 1979), "Tumhe Geeton Mein Dhaloonga" (Sawan Ko Aane Do - 1979), "Dulha Bikta Hai", “Natija Achcha Niklega” (“Dulha Bikta Hai”, 1982), “Dulhan Banugi Doli Chaungi” (“Woh Jo Hasina”, 1983), “Aa Mai Gul Badan” (“Locket”, 1986) and “Rone Na Dijiyega” (“Jaan Tere Naam”, 1992) are among the notable songs that he has written in Hindi films. Gauhar Kanpuri passed away on June 29, 2002.
