New Delhi. Jan 26 ( VNI) Almost 200 former students of the Film and Television Institute of India, Pune, have strongly denounced the recent violence against FTII students on January 23.They have demanded swift action against the perpetrators. According to these alumni, " unidentified individuals infiltrated the campus without authorization and carried out the attacks". One professional remarked, "FTII students had organized discussions and screenings as part of their academic commitment, in such an academic atmosphere the way intruders assaulted them is unacceptable." "The police's failure to investigate and address the violence, clearly captured on video, is even more unacceptable." They alleged.
The alumni have urged the police and relevant authorities to promptly take action against those responsible for the violence.They have asserted that attackers entered with the intent also to damage property on the FTII, Pune campus.
Expressing profound affection and respect for the institute, the alumni recognize the rigorous training that molded them into film professionals.They said " Witnessing the students of this esteemed film school being assaulted is distressing. One of such professional said " The alumni, comprising a community of film professionals, educators, and artists with national and international acclaim, wholeheartedly stand in support of the FTII student community.VNI
