Dr Najma Heptulla awarded “Order of Friendship” award of Russia

New Delhi, June 13 (VNI) Manipur Governor Dr. Najma Heptulla, was decorated with “Order of Friendship” Award (an award  by the Russian President, H.E. Mr. Vladimir Putin). Award was presented by Ambassador of Russia in India H.E Mr. Nikolay R. Kudashev in an impressive ceremony held last night in capital , on the occasion of Russian National Day. Many distinguished  guests including  Foreign Secretary Vijay Gokhale were present at this occasion.  

 

While accepting the award, Madam Nazma  thanked President Putin & the people of Russia . She said "I accept this honour with utmost humility"According to sources this is in recognition of her great services  to strength Indo-Soviet friendship during past three decades. It was the initiative of Dr. Heptulla that  Indo-Soviet Women’s magazine Dialogue in Russian language & Hamari Goshthi in English language was started in 1987-88 after the historic visit of President Mikhail Gorbachev to New Delhi.VNI
