New Delhi, 17 Aug, (VNI) Breaking its own remarkable record, the Border Roads Organization (BRO) has achieved yet another extraordinary feat on the 77th Independence Day. With unwavering determination and unparalleled engineering prowess, BRO commenced the construction of the world's highest motorable road in the pristine landscapes of Ladakh.
Named the Likaru-Migla-Fukche route, this groundbreaking project is nestled close to Hanle in Eastern Ladakh, a region known for its challenging terrain and high altitudes. Spanning an impressive stretch of 64 kilometers, this avant-garde thoroughfare has seamlessly connected Likaru to Fukche, a mere 3 kilometers away from the Line of Actual Control (LAC) within Eastern Ladakh.
What truly sets this project apart is its impending elevation, reaching an astonishing 19,400 feet. This achievement surpasses even the Umling La pass, a feat of engineering executed by BRO in 2021 at an elevation of 19,024 feet, which was a testament to human ingenuity in conquering extreme altitudes.
In a remarkable achievement, the Umlingla pass secured its place in the esteemed annals of the Guinness Book of World Records. It stood taller than Bolivia's Uturuncu volcano road, an impressive road constructed at 18,953 feet. The Umlingla pass spans a distance of 52 kilometers, serving as a vital artery linking Chishumle to Demchok. This area, located right on the Line of Actual Control (LAC), remains a significant friction point between neighboring nations.
The impending arrival of the Likaru-Migla-Fukche route, the world's highest motorable road, marks a monumental milestone in the realm of infrastructure and engineering. Covering a substantial distance of 64 kilometers, this strategic pathway will link Hanle to the CDFD road at Fukche, enhancing connectivity in the region. Notably, the meticulously planned route will traverse the region of Migla, situated at an astounding 19,400 feet.
As a testament to the grand scope and significance of this ambitious venture, a budget of approximately 520 Crore Rupees has been allocated. BRO's relentless pursuit of excellence has not only shattered records but also cemented its legacy as a pioneer in conquering extreme altitudes and constructing pathways where none seemed possible. With the Likaru-Migla-Fukche route, BRO has etched its name in history as it sets the Guinness World Record for the highest motorable road in the rugged landscapes of Ladakh.
