New Delhi, 12 May, (VNI) The Bay of Bengal braces for Cyclone Mocha's "very severe cyclonic storm" as it intensifies towards Andhra Pradesh and Odisha coastal regions, prompting evacuations and relief operations.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has alerted residents in low-lying areas to move to safety, with Paradip and Kalingapatnam likely to bear the brunt of the storm on May 16th. As disaster response teams stand at high alert, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has dispatched several teams to assist in rescue operations.
Although cyclones are common in the Bay of Bengal during May and June, it is crucial for coastal communities to take necessary precautions such as seeking higher ground or designated shelter areas, and for fishermen to avoid going out to sea. With safety as a top priority, it is essential for everyone in the affected areas to cooperate with the authorities and take measures to stay safe.
