Arun Kumar Chattopadhyay, popularly known as Uttam Kumar, was one of the greatest icons of Indian cinema, especially Bengali films. An accomplished actor, director, producer, screenwriter, composer, and playback singer, he earned immense admiration for his versatile performances and charismatic screen presence. His successful on-screen pairing with Suchitra Sen became one of the most celebrated in Indian film history. Uttam Kumar starred in numerous critically acclaimed and commercially successful films, leaving an unforgettable mark on Bengali cinema. He passed away on July 24, 1980, but his extraordinary legacy continues to inspire generations of filmmakers, actors, and cinema lovers across India.
