Bal Gangadhar Tilak was one of the foremost leaders of India's freedom movement and a passionate advocate of self-rule. Popularly known as Lokmanya, a title bestowed by his admirers, he inspired millions with his famous declaration, "Swaraj is my birthright, and I shall have it." Tilak was one of the celebrated Lal-Bal-Pal trio, alongside Lala Lajpat Rai and Bipin Chandra Pal, who spearheaded the nationalist movement against British rule. Through his writings, public speeches, and social reforms, he awakened national consciousness across India. Tilak passed away on August 1, 1920, leaving behind an enduring legacy of courage, patriotism, and determination.
