New Delhi, Jan 23 (Shobhna jain/VNI) International Summer School for Jain Studies (ISSJS) has announced this year's course to'Study Non violence,Jainism and religious tradition' will be conducted in India.This course has been conducted every year in summers successfully since last 14 years and Indian as well as foreign students irrespective of their religion have been participating in this course and they find 'Study of NONVIOLENCE & JAINISM' unique and an enlightening experience.Many scholars have been also participating in this course
According to chairman of ISSJS North America governing council Dr. Sulekh C. Jain, 'School has started accepting applications for this year's three, four and six week study programs in India.Course is hugely appreciated by candidates and they are taking keen interest in it. The candidates who have successfully completed this course, found it very rewarding and enlightening ,and enthusiasm about this course is increasing every year' he said

According to Dr Jain, Its teachings are inspired and influenced by principal of non violence of Mahatma Gandhi. Students and scholars will learn speciallly about traditions of jainism from learned scholars as well as practicing monks and nuns in India. It is an experiential and India based programe and makes India a classroom for the study of Ahimsa /Nonviolence, Jainism, history, art, culture and philosophy,commented Dr Jain about the course
The Programe is designed for undergraduate and graduate students, Post-Doctoral Fellows, full time faculty and High School Teachers with an interest in the Jain Studies and Ahimsa (nonviolence). The three, four and six week long, stand alone and separate intensive courses in International Summer School for Jain Studies (ISSJS) 2018 will entail morning lectures, afternoon field trips, visits to some schools, time in a few ancient cities and meetings with Jain professionals, monks and nuns.
According to chairman of ISSJS Dr. Shugan C Jain, 'ISSJS have been offered regularly in India every summer for the last 13 years, ,The number of participants have seen a steady increase every year. Nearly 800 students and scholars from many universities and High Schools have participated in ISSJS programs so far'.
He further added that this program is highly subsidized by the Jain community
