New Delhi, 20 May, (VNI) An intriguing visual display, the Kannambra - Rishinarada Mangalam Vela is a magnificent conclusion to the summer celebrations in the Palakkad-Thrissur area. Regarded as the largest gala in this locality, the event possesses a captivating moniker, 'Chakka Vela', connecting it to a tale about the harvest of pineapples and oranges.
Throughout the celebration, two competing factions, the Kannambra Township and Rishinarada Mangalam Township (township denotes area), lead the revelries. The gala is characterized by a grandiose procession of elephants.
A prominent feature of the festival is the Vaalum Chilambum Ezhunnallathu – a vibrant parade from the Sree Kurumba Temple to R. Mangalam Mannam, signifying the arrival of the Goddess. The Eedu Vedi, a ritual involving a display of fireworks, takes place at midday.
On par with the splendor of the renowned Thrissur Pooram, Kannambra Vela is an event that should not be overlooked.
