Kasturbai Mohandas  Gandhiwas an Indian political activist. She married Mohandas Gandhi in 1883. With her husband and son, she was involved in the Indian independence movement in British India. She was, to a great extent, influenced by her husband. National Safe Motherhood Day is observed on 11 April every year.
