Rabindranath Tagore FRAS was an Indian poet, author, playwright, musician, composer, philosopher, social reformer, and painter. He was one of the foremost figures of the Bengal Renaissance and became the first Asian to win the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1913 for Gitanjali. Tagore's writings celebrated humanism, education, freedom, and cultural harmony. He founded Visva-Bharati University at Santiniketan with the vision of promoting holistic education and creative learning. His compositions include the national anthems of India and Bangladesh.
