New Delhi 24 April (Sunil Kumar / VNI) Fairy tale journey seekers can rejoice as the Palace on Wheels has commenced its seasonal tour. The world-renowned Palace on Wheels luxury train embarked on its famous tour on Saturday 22nd April , departing from Delhi Cantt Railway Station with 76 passengers from India and abroad. The tour offers a chance for passengers to experience the rich traditions of Rajasthan and connect with villages and Dhanis of the desert state. The Palace on Wheels is considered the cultural ambassador of Rajasthan and sets an example in the tourism industry worldwide.Although its fare does not suit ordinary rail passengers's pocket but once you enter the train its dream a dream come true.
Mr Dharmendra Rathore, Chairman of Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation, greeted the passengers and highlighted the train's continuous operation since 1982. The train offers a glimpse into the heritage and cultural traditions of Rajasthan that enthrall tourists from all over the world. He also provided detailed information about the journey and the modern blend with traditional decor and furnishings and tourist amenities available on the train.Mr. Rathore said that the Palace on Wheels journey showcases the glorious history of Rajasthan and delights both domestic and foreign tourists with its royal environment. The hospitality and service spirit of the Tourism Corporation's officers and employees, along with the delicious cuisine, also add to the travelers' experience.
From a tourism perspective, the Palace on Wheels highlights Rajasthan's old havelis, citadels, forts, deserts, folk arts, handicrafts, and more, promoting them across the globe.
Mr Dheeraj Srivastava, Resident Commissioner of Delhi, Rajasthan, welcomed the tourists and provided information about the royal train. The Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation employees also welcomed the travelers by applying tilak, wearing garlands, and tying safa according to Rajasthani tradition.The attendants were also dressed in traditional Rajasthani attire
