New Delhi, May 24, (Shobhna/AnupamaJain/VNI) "What is ahimsa or non-violence? Is it simply the absence of violence or is it something more? Can ahimsa or non-violence even be achieved in today’s world? How does one interpret the meaning of war from the perspective of ahimsa? Or how does one apply this concept to our own life? How can one learn respect and tolerance from the Jain doctrine of Anekaantavad (non-one-sidedness of views)? How and why should one embrace the principle of Aparigraha (non-attachment and non-possessiveness) in our life? Can a particular set of Jain values guide us towards inner peace? these are some general questions, which Dr Jain has tried to address in his book " Potpourri of Jainism" and these queries are so relevant specially In today's world full of conflict and need answers ? According to Esteemed Engineer, Prolific writer, and Highly Respected Leader of the Jain Community , Dr. Sulekh Jain, the answer is YES.
In his latest publication, " Potpourri of Jainism," that can truely be called an illuminating companion to Jainism.Dr. Jain explains the application of these principles to ordinary everyday experiences (like how it inspired Dr. Christopher Miller not to harm a lizard after attending a lecture on ahimsa) and to comprehend historically unprecedented sad happenings (like how the COVID-19 pandemic can be understood through the Jain concept of Paras-Pro- Graho-Jivaanaam or the interconnectedness of all life forms on earth
