Louisville, June 12 (VNI) Thousands gather from far flung areas to pay homage to their hero,the Greatest Ali,they stood silently on the grave site,tears rolled down from their cheeks, mourners placed flowers, rose petals, some whispered prayers and in an unique tribute a fan placed a set of tiny boxing gloves over the grave and left silently.
Muhammad Ali himself personally chose the plot where he wished to be buried in a peaceful, secluded corner of the historic Cave Hill Cemetery on the outskirts of Louisville, Kentucky.Spacious place is provided for the grave site, keeping in mind that the burial site will likely become one of Kentucky’s most popular tourist spots, expected to attract millions of visitors every year. His grave is just across from a flower patch and a lake, with a fountain.
Headstone on the grave will be simple when it's installed, in keeping with Muslim tradition. It will be inscribed with just one word ' ALI '
Ali always wished to remain in his hometown, where he learned to box, built a museum and even has a street named in his honor.Cave Hill Cemetery opened to the public yesterday ,on Saturday also as visitors came from near and far to visit Ali's grave.
Ali, 74, died a little over a week ago from septic shock due to unspecified natural causes. The boxer, who suffered from Parkinson¿s disease, was laid to rest Friday as more than 15,000 people attended his funeral. VNI
