New Delhi19 April (VNI) Indian-Origin Nelore Cow, Viatina-19, Sets New Record as World’s Most Expensive Cow at $4.8 Million (around forty crores INR)

Originally hailing from India and named after the Nellore district in Andhra Pradesh, the Nelore breed has once again made headlines, this time with the sale of Viatina-19 FIV Mara in Arandú, São Paulo, Brazil. This purebred Nelore cow fetched an astonishing R$21,000,000 (approximately $4.8 million), marking her as the most expensive cow ever sold.

Breeders Casa Branca Agropastoril, Agropecuária Napemo, and Nelore HRO jointly own one-third of Viatina-19's genetics, with a portion of her ownership sold for $1.44 million last June, setting the stage for her record-breaking total valuation.

Renowned for their exceptional heat tolerance and the superior quality of their meat, Nelore cows, like Viatina-19, are easily recognizable by their distinct features: bright white fur without any spots, loose skin, and a prominent hump above the shoulders.

Viatina-19's recognition by the Guinness World Records is not just a personal triumph but also a significant milestone for the Nelore breed and genetic improvement efforts as a whole, as celebrated in a Facebook post by breeder Agropecuária Napemo.

Born in Nova Iguaçu de Goiás, Brazil, Viatina-19 is now etched in history as one of the most exceptional Nelore cows ever, marking a new high point in the breed's prestigious lineage.
